Change of phone number

We have discontinued the use of our Skype-In number 020-8133-2004, and instead now have a voice number 07020-971132. This number is only available for recorded messages; because of other commitments, we regret that we can not undertake to receive “live” voice calls.

Floppy disks discontinued

We are now receiving very few requests for orders on floppy disks, and there are rumours that they may no longer be obtainable. They are also prone to damage in the post. With immediate effect, therefore, we will no longer offer the option of receiving an order on a floppy disk. For as long as it is possible with the equipment available to us, we will continue to produce floppy disks, but only by special request.

Printed Instructions

The majority of orders are now emailed directly to customers, with instructions supplied as PDF files. This method has been well received by customers, and offers advantages over printed instructions, in that the file may be searched, and the contents viewed online while the simulation is running. There is plenty of space available on a CDROM, so there seems no good reason not to do the same with orders shipped by that method. Feedback to this proposal on our Yahoo group has so far been entirely positive. We will leave the discussion open to the end of June; unless compelling reasons for retaining printed instructions come to light by then, we shall stop supplying them from the beginning of July.

In response to several requests, we are looking into the possibility of making the PDF files available for download by existing customers.

Windows simulations

The North London Line 1938 Windows simulation is now available, and joins the Leicester Central 1957 Windows simulation. Following these will be Woodford Halse, another Great Central location, but probably not ready until late 2010. Details of available Windows simulations are on the Windows page of our Products section.

Please note that the North London Line simulation is big, and can NOT be supplied on floppy disk. Please also note that it requires a display with a resolution of at least 800x600, and one larger than that is strongly recommended.

Our current plan is that all future simulations will be for Windows only. As far as we can tell, they should run on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and later; they should run on Windows 98SE and Me, though in some cases a couple of Microsoft patches may be needed to support the now standard Windows installer and Help system. They also run on Linux with Wine!

Previous News

To make it easier to see what news is really new, we now have a Previous News page where you can read any news items you missed. News items will now stay here only while they are new, typically until the next news is posted.
