Windows simulation performance
We have been reviewing the performance of our first Windows simulations, and particularly the processor utilisation. After some research and experimenting, those affected (LE57 and WO57) have been modified to avoid excessive processor use, particularly when pausing or waiting for the user. The new versions are now available from our Support page.
Windows simulations
Four Windows simulations are now available: Isle of Wight (East) 1932, Leicester Central 1957, North London Line 1938, and Woodford Halse 1957. Details of available Windows simulations are on the Windows page of our Products section.
Please note that the North London Line simulation is big, and can NOT be supplied on floppy disk. Please also note that it requires a display with a resolution of at least 800x600, and one larger than that is strongly recommended.
Our current plan is that all future simulations will be for Windows only. As far as we can tell, they should run on Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 and later; they should run on Windows 98SE and Me, though in some cases a couple of Microsoft patches may be needed to support the now standard Windows installer and Help system. They also run on Linux with Wine!
