To replace the discussion board we had here, which suffered from electronic graffiti, we now have a Yahoo group. You can find it at: http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/SIAMulations/.
Place an Order using our secure order form
We strongly recommend use of our online order form, and delivery by email will also eliminate postal delays, particularly for overseas customers. You can now specify delivery on CD or by email, as alternatives to floppy disk. The default is now a zip file attached to an email.
DOSBox for Windows XP and Vista
We have recently discovered a piece of software that appears to solve all the problems of running our Driver and Signal Box simulations with Windows XP and Vista. If you have trouble with any of our other simulations with newer versions of Windows, particularly with mouse or sound, it will probably solve those too. Full details are on our Support page.
If you have trouble changing the window size when running with XP, please note that this is done by changing the font size, not by dragging the edge of the window as in earlier versions of Windows. That’s nothing to do with us; blame Bill Gates!
Windows Vista
We now know from personal experience that Windows Vista does not support the running of DOS applications in full screen mode; sound may also not work correctly. So if ordering any of our Driver or Signal Box simulations for use with Windows Vista, please note that we are unable to support this combination - BUT see DOSBox above.
Our Driver and Signal Box simulations can only be run with Windows Vista using DOSBox or some other emulation software that provides a genuine DOS environment. Before ordering, please make sure that you have an environment set up on your PC that has successfully run our free sample programs Yarnton Signal Box 1954 and Driver: Kings Cross to Peterborough. This has to be your responsibility; there are so many variations between systems that it simply isn’t possible for us to help, much though we’d like to.
The restriction also means that when using Windows Vista our other simulations can only be run in a window, not full screen. This is nothing to do with us, and we regret there is nothing we can do about it.
